Apposite Drives Down Cost of Application Testing over Gigabit Networks with New Linktropy 5500
New Network Simulator Shows Impact of WAN Conditions on Application Performance to Benchmark, Validate, and Optimize End User Experience
LOS ANGELES, April 27, 2010 – Apposite® Technologies is introducing the industry's most cost-efficient solution for benchmarking the performance of applications across wide-area networks (WAN) of up to 1 Gbps. The new Linktropy 5500 WAN emulator makes it easy for IT departments and application developers to assess the impact of network conditions on remote users' experience.
The Linktropy 5500 emulates bandwidth, latency, congestion, loss and other network impairments at up to 1 Gbps for only $12,500, and is available at lower speeds starting at $4,000. The Linktropy 5500 provides the high level of precision needed for accurate benchmarking, while delivering the ease of use that makes it possible to install, configure, and begin testing within minutes.
By using the Linktropy 5500 to simulate their actual network, IT professionals can assess expected end user experience prior to roll-out of new applications, troubleshoot problems that occur after deployment, and evaluate the effectiveness of potential performance enhancements and optimizations.
"People are surprised at how even a small amount of latency or a fraction of a percent of packet loss across the wide area network can render some applications almost unusable," says Robert Smithers, CEO from Miercom. "Apposite's emulation appliances are indispensible for IT teams to ensure user satisfaction without unwanted surprises."
The Linktropy 5500 allows IT departments to test all the centralized applications that users depend on, including the throughput of bulk data applications such as file sharing, network storage, and remote back-up/disaster recovery, the responsiveness of interactive applications including Web 2.0 applications, CRM, ERP, and cloud-based computing, and the quality of real-time applications including VoIP, video, and IPTV.
"Apposite's Linktropy WAN emulators allow us to mimic challenging network conditions," said Mike Nann, Director of Marketing and Communications at Digital Rapids, "They have proven indispensible for the development, testing, and demonstration of our media transfer and video streaming products."
The new Linktropy 5500 replaces the Linktropy 4500 model with expanded capabilities including gigabit speed emulation, higher packet forwarding rates, and the choice of copper or SFP Ethernet interfaces.Pricing & Availability
Available starting May 1, the Linktropy 5500 supports link speeds of up to1 Gbps with the choice of copper or SFP interfaces. Pricing is based on bandwidth and starts at $4,000.
