Apposite Announces Release of Linktropy 4.0
New Linktropy Recorder and Player Utilities Capture and Replay Live Network Conditions
LAS VEGAS, NV (NXTCOMM) ─ June 17, 2008 ─ Apposite® Technologies, the leader in easy-to-use, professional quality WAN emulation products, announced the release of Linktropy™ 4.0 today at the NXTcomm trade show. Linktropy 4.0 adds the new Linktropy Recorder and Player to capture live network conditions and replay them through the Linktropy WAN emulator, further extending the product’s ease-of-use for application performance testing.
Linktropy WAN emulation appliances simulate link bandwidth, delay, packet loss, congestion, and other network impairments to emulate any type of wide-area network. With a unique combination of ease-of-use, test lab-level precision, and unmatched prices, Linktropy WAN emulators are widely deployed by enterprise network managers, network application and equipment developers, and telecoms carriers.
The new Linktropy Recorder is a Microsoft Windows-based utility that probes a selected link or network path up to ten times per second to capture varying delay and loss characteristics. The Linktropy Recorder can run for more than 24 hours to record the full range of typical and worst case conditions over the course of a day. Recorded link conditions are then replayed by the new Player feature of the Linktropy WAN emulator to reproduce the characteristics of the live network in a repeatable test environment.
The Linktropy Recorder and Player can be used by network managers to benchmark and troubleshoot the performance of applications over their own production network, or by software and equipment developers to reproduce users’ network conditions for product testing and customer support.
With an open file format, the Linktropy Player also offers users flexibility to view and edit the recorded link conditions or build arbitrary sequences of delay and loss that can be imported and played by the Linktropy WAN emulator.
The Linktropy 4.0 firmware, including the Linktropy Recorder and Player, are now available for download at no additional charge to supported customers of the Linktropy 4500, 7500, and 7500 PRO models.
Demonstrations of Linktropy 4.0 will continue in the Apposite booth (#SL2710) for the duration of the NXTcomm trade show, June 17 - 19, 2008 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas.
